Understanding Your Condition
Dr Watson has particular expertise in the following conditions. Below you will find helpful information and links to trusted resources.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the tissue lining the pelvis. It is a chronic condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women of reproductive age in the UK and can cause significant pain, heavy periods, and fertility difficulties.
Dr Watson has completed additional advanced training in the medical and surgical management of endometriosis, including excision of endometriosis and ureterolysis. She offers both medical and surgical treatment options, tailored to each patient's individual needs and circumstances.
Research has shown that dietary approaches may help manage some symptoms of endometriosis. An anti-inflammatory diet — rich in fruits, vegetables, oily fish, and whole grains — may help reduce inflammation. The low FODMAP diet has also been shown to improve gastrointestinal symptoms in women with endometriosis.

Menopause & Perimenopause
The menopause is a natural stage of life that usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, when oestrogen levels decline and periods stop. Perimenopause is the transitional phase leading up to menopause, during which many women experience symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, sleep disturbance, and changes to their periods.
Dr Watson provides expert assessment and management of menopausal symptoms, including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). She takes a holistic, individualised approach, discussing the benefits and risks of different treatment options to help each patient make informed decisions about their care.
Helpful Resources
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common hormonal conditions affecting women of reproductive age, thought to affect up to 1 in 10 women in the UK. It can cause irregular periods, excess androgen levels (which may lead to acne or excess hair growth), and polycystic ovaries visible on ultrasound.
Dr Watson provides thorough assessment and individualised management plans for women with PCOS, addressing symptoms such as irregular or absent periods, hormonal imbalances, and associated concerns. Treatment is tailored to each patient's needs and may include lifestyle advice, medication, and ongoing monitoring.
Helpful Resources
Vulval Skin Care
Vulval skin conditions are common and can cause significant discomfort, including itching, soreness, burning, and pain. Many women find these symptoms distressing and may delay seeking help. Conditions such as lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, vulval eczema, and vulvodynia can all affect the delicate skin of the vulva and require specialist assessment and management.
Good vulval skin care is an important part of managing these conditions. General advice includes using a soap substitute (such as an emollient wash) instead of soap, shower gels, or bubble bath; avoiding perfumed products in the vulval area; wearing loose-fitting cotton underwear; and patting the area dry rather than rubbing. Moisturising the vulval skin regularly with a suitable emollient can also help to maintain the skin barrier and reduce symptoms.
Dr Watson can provide assessment and individualised management plans for vulval skin concerns, including referral to specialist vulval dermatology services where appropriate.
